about

Patrick is an inspired artist, currently composing, performing, and teaching. He composed and arranged a 90 minute suite of music called Thus Spoke Zarathustra, a musical adaptation from the influential book by Friedrich Nietzsche, in the setting of a contemporary big band jazz ensemble.

He passionately believes that everyone can develop their musical abilities to their fullest potential. Music is a universal art accessible to all, with the power to transform lives. His conviction inspires others to explore their musical talents and find joy in this shared human experience.

At the age of 12, Patrick started his musical journey by playing the saxophone, which he continues to this day. He later taught himself piano from 14 to 18 and earned a full scholarship after successfully auditioning at the conservatory. Along the way he received lessons from renowned musicians, including Vardan Ovsepian, Andrea Keller, Barney McAll, Geoffrey Keezer, further enhancing his musical prowess.

Patrick's musical expertise spans a wide spectrum, encompassing improvisation and bebop vocabulary, theory, arrangement, composition, and the art of free playing. His profound reverence for jazz goes beyond the music itself, extending to a deep appreciation of its cultural significance and rich history.

now

At the moment you can find Patrick in Maastricht where he is completing his Masters of Composition, researching the correlation between schizophrenia and modernism, and continuing to practice piano and writing for big band.

He is taking on new worlds, dissecting the music of Bruch, Barber, Mussorgsky, Ravel, and others, to find a new direction in improvised music.
